❤ being self-employed
It’s Valentine’s Day and we at Bosspac think that in addition to having friends and family to share beautiful moments with, it’s also important to love the work you are doing. That’s why we asked people who are their own bosses what they love the most about being self-employed. Here’s what they had to say.
Are you into travelling?
How about not having a boss from whom to ask for an annual leave every time you saw cheap last-minute tickets to Bali or Fiji? Grace who is a Digital Marketing Specialist says that what she likes the most about being self-employed is: “Being able to travel whenever I want.”
If you enjoy travelling, then you will definitely appreciate having the freedom to choose when to do it
Keeping more money?
Andrew who is a builder says that the main benefit for him of being self-employed is “maximizing his earnings”. “I get to keep more money that I generate and I love knowing where the money goes”, says Andrew. Andrew adds: “it is very gratifying to know that I am being fairly compensated for my time and effort.” Andrew admits that for self-employed people the earning potential is not limited and the only limit is your time.
Some people like to know they are keeping a bigger piece of the smaller pie
Do you have kids?
Serena who is a freelance web designer and developer shares her top reasons why it is awesome to be a freelancer: “Having the flexibility to go to my kids’ school events and be a helpful mum.”
Another benefit for Serena is that she “gets to know and makes friends with amazing clients.” Being self-employed can sometimes feel lonely, and depending on your occupation and the type of work you are doing, you might establish very good and close relationships with your clients.
If you have kids, they might appreciate you being around them while they grow up
Like to do everything yourself?
Dave who is a barber says: “I am Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Technology Officer at the same time. I had to learn to do all of these things, with some help from friends and experts.” Dave admits that “it is very satisfying to be in control of every part of my working life.”
Being self-employed might require you wear multiple hats at once – be ready to be CEO, CFO, CMO and CTO at the same time
There are so many types of businesses, but for all of these people there is one thing in common – they love what they are doing and they are passionate about it!
