Week 11 – Almost there…
It’s week 11 in the R9 Accelerator and we are only 2.5 weeks away from our final presentations. Exciting!
This week R9 Accelerator teams were invited to attend Fintech Accelerator pitches. It was great to see what the teams have done in the same period of time, what challenges they are solving and what they have learnt in the process.
This week we met with the Country Manager NZ from Talent International and it helped us to get a clearer picture of the self-employed space, also we validated some of our findings.
We also worked together with government agencies such as MBIE, business.govt.nz, NZBN, IRD and ACC, and at this stage in the programme, we really appreciate their support. We also met with people from Worksafe to understand their challenges when it comes to self-employed people, and how they support and can help 1-man bands.
We also were lucky to get help from Chapman Tripp to understand our legal challenges. Good news – nothing too scary!
Our stress this week was relieved by cohort’s Karaoke evening – random slides that you’ve never seen before and pitch it in front of others! It was such a fun night, full of laughs and exactly what’s need at this part of the programme.
The Demo Day is approaching and it means that we start to practice our pitches like crazy. The pitches have become longer and it seems impossible to squeeze in the work you have done for 3 months only in 6 minutes.
What we learnt this week:
- When you are doing great things, people want you to succeed!
- If you are only given 6 minutes to speak, prioritize the most important things to say in the pitch for the audience who will hear it.
- ‘Startuping’ is hard, but super exciting!
Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us! Next week Bosspac’s focus will be to polish the pitch and slides for the Demo Day, complete the next iteration of the prototype, work closely with government agencies and self-employed people…
